MOON REGAN TRANSANTARCTIC EXPEDITION

Winston Wong | Imperial College London

ABOUT THE TEAM

The expedition team is comprised of individuals from a variety of backgrounds. They are motivated not only by the extreme challenge of crossing the earth’s most hostile environment, but by the desire to make a significant contribution to educating the world about the Antarctic’s global importance.

Andrew Moon and Andrew Regan will be leading the expedition, accompanied by a vital support team. One of these is ex-Formula 1 chassis designer, Kieron Bradley, who was commissioned by the expedition team to design and build the Concept Ice Vehicle at Lotus Engineering.

Andrew Moon and Andrew Regan: Ice Challenger 2005

Andrew Regan and Andrew Moon have both journeyed to the North and South Poles, and were part of a record-breaking expedition to the South Pole in 2005 using the Ice Challenger, a six-wheeled Scientific Support Vehicle (SSV). They were determined to return again – for a greater challenge: a crossing from coast to coast. And this time, their focus is on education.

The team developed the plan for Trans Antarctica 2009 especially with young people in mind. As Andrew Regan explains, “I’ve got six kids and I really hope that this expedition will spark some genuine interest in schools.”
